Experience
I became a high school Mathematics teacher after two years of experience teaching middle school. I attended Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. After I graduated, I became a Petroleum Engineer and worked in California and Texas. Then I made an abrupt change in my career and became a teacher. Mathematics is my passion and I share that passion in the classroom and when tutoring by showing students that a key component of our everyday lives is Math. If students can see that you are excited and enthusiastic about a particular subject, they will become engaged and want to learn more. I know that Algebra can be an intimidating and confusing subject for some students, it can be easier to comprehend if you break it down and make it fun. I tutor and teach in the subject areas of Algebra, Geometry, Elementary and Middle School Math, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, Trigonometry, Competition Math, Arithmetic, Pre-Algebra, and Study Skills. I also help out with the school's basketball team and cheering squad. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy going to the movies, and the occasional shopping spree.
